CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Excess volatility increases risk further. Be cautious. Past performance is not an indication of future results.

Nine pairs of words that are used as if they meant the same thing (Bangladesh)

This is not a glossary. A glossary defines words one at a time, and one at a time is not where the trouble is. The trouble is in pairs: two words that get swapped for each other in ordinary speech, describe two different things on a screen, and send a question to the wrong place when they are confused. Nine pairs, each with the difference and the consequence.

If only one pair is worth carrying away, make it the first. Sent is what you did. Credited is what the account did. Between the two there is a route, a possible cost and a possible conversion, and almost every «the figure is wrong» message is those two words being treated as one.

Pairs one to five: the money itself

The pairThe differenceWhat confusing them costs
Sent / creditedSent is the figure typed at the source. Credited is the figure the entry shows once it reached the account, after any stated cost and any conversionAn ordinary difference is reported as a missing amount
Cost / conversionA cost is stated beside an option before the confirmation. A conversion is a price applied because two currencies were involved — not a fee anyone chargedA conversion gets argued about as though somebody could waive it
Balance / availableBalance is what the account holds. Available is what is not currently held in place by an open positionAn order ticket refusing a size looks like a fault instead of arithmetic
Minimum / recommendedA minimum is the smallest sum a screen will accept. Nothing on any screen recommends anythingThe payment system ends up choosing the amount
Deposit / top-upA deposit is decided before anything has happened on the account. A top-up is decided after something hasA reaction gets recorded in memory as a plan. Why the second one is different

Pairs six to nine: the places and the records

  1. Profile / trading account

A profile is the container reached after signing in. A trading account is one numbered thing inside it, with its own balance and its own unit — and a profile can hold several. «My account» names the container; a transfer is addressed to the number.

Confusing them costs: a credit that landed correctly on an account nobody is looking at.

  2. Confirmed / completed

Confirmed is the instruction you gave; it starts the expected time. Completed is the account's side of it, and the entry is where that word actually appears. One is your act, the other is an outcome.

Confusing them costs: a second transfer sent because the first «did not work».

  3. Entry / balance

An entry is a line in the transaction list describing one movement. A balance is a single current figure. The entry appears first and the balance changes later, which is exactly why a wait looks alarming on the platform and ordinary in the account area.

Confusing them costs: watching the screen least likely to tell you anything.

  4. Expected time / promised time

An expected time is printed beside an option before a confirmation, and it varies with the option and the day. Nothing anywhere promises a time. The expected one is still worth copying down, because it is the only definition of «late» that exists.

Confusing them costs: a complaint that has nothing measurable in it.

Three words with no partner, and no ambiguity

These three do not get confused with anything. They are here because the pairs above keep referring to them.

  • Account currency — the single unit an account counts in, chosen at creation and fixed for that account. It is what a conversion converts into.
  • Reference — the identifier attached to one movement. It points at one entry and nothing else, which is what makes a question specific rather than descriptive.
  • Spread — the gap between the buying and the selling price, a trading cost that never appears on a funding screen at all. It is named here only so it stops being looked for there.

What a vocabulary cannot do

It cannot supply your figures. Amounts, costs, expected times and available options are account-specific and region-specific, and they are stated inside the Personal Area before each confirmation — a number written into a guide is stale the day after it is written. It also cannot make a definition into a safeguard: knowing every word here changes nothing about what a position does, and trading with leverage can lose money regardless.

Questions about the terms

Which of the nine causes the most messages?

Sent and credited, by a distance. The two figures are supposed to differ whenever a cost was stated or a currency was crossed, and the entry carries the one that counts.

Is a conversion a hidden charge?

No. It is a price applied because two currencies were involved, and the way to avoid it is to hold the account in the unit that will feed it — a choice made at creation.

Does «completed» mean the balance has changed?

Read the balance rather than the word. The entry and the balance are two records of the same event, and the balance is the one the platform displays.

Why does a profile hold several accounts at all?

So that different units and different account types can sit side by side. It is convenient, and it is also the reason a destination number is worth writing down.

Is a minimum ever a hint about a sensible amount?

No. It states what will be accepted. What is sensible is worked out from the smallest position an account can carry. The arithmetic.

Where do all nine pairs appear on a screen?

Five of them on the funding screen and the entry, four in the account area more generally. None of them on a chart. Walk one transfer.

What is the shortest useful note to keep?

Sent, credited, confirmed at, expected within. Four items, one line, and every pair above becomes checkable rather than remembered.
